In an official statement, the Board of Directors of Zamalek Club followed with great astonishment the early campaign against Egyptian refereeing and the prior objection to the formation of the referees committee.
The statement added: “Regarding this matter, the Board of Directors of Zamalek Club would like to clarify a number of points to the public:
First: The early threat to the referees, objecting to some names, and recalling refereeing incidents from last season for the purpose of casting doubt and stirring confusion is completely unacceptable and aims to terrorize the referees before the start of the season, as has been the custom in recent seasons.”
It continued: “Second: It is unacceptable to question the integrity of Egyptian refereeing and all elements of the Egyptian football system.”
It went on: “Third: The Board of Directors of Zamalek Club appreciates the efforts of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Engineer Hani Abu Rida, in developing the football system and capitalizing on the success of our national team’s distinguished World Cup participation in the last World Cup.”
The Zamalek Board also commends the Association President’s keenness to do justice to the club and his announcement before the sports community that all Zamalek players’ contracts are valid, and calls on the Football Association and the relevant authorities to disclose the validity of the contracts of players from the rest of the clubs in order to clarify the truth to everyone.
