Angel Di Maria, the former star of the Argentine national team, sees that the 2026 FIFA World Cup has ended for him after the victory over England in the semi-final.
The Argentine national team faced its opponent England in the World Cup semi-final match, where Lionel Messi's squad achieved an exciting 2-1 victory, after being behind by a goal without reply until the final minutes.
Argentina qualified for the final match where it faced Spain at "MetLife" Stadium and lost 0-1.
Di Maria said, in statements published by the Argentine network "tycsports": "The victory over England was a great joy for our entire country, that was very clear, it made me very happy, I am grateful to everyone forever".

He added: "I suffered in every match I watched, but they found that inner strength that succeeded in leading them to victories in the end, sometimes you win in the finals and sometimes not, luck was not on our side this time, but they raised the flag of the national team high."
He continued: "What they achieved and their victory over England was the crowning of their career, for me the World Cup ended at this point, they gave the country great joy."
He went on: "I have always wanted Messi to continue at the international level, I think he has many years ahead, he is 39 years old, he has proven that he is still among the best in history, and that there are no limits to his abilities."
He clarified: "Scaloni? I hope he remains in his position for the benefit of everyone, there is a good generation of young players, he will know what he wants but for me I hope he continues."
