Real Madrid caused a state of controversy due to their extensive celebration of player Marc Cucurella after the latter was crowned with the 2026 FIFA World Cup title yesterday evening against Argentina.
Spain won the World Cup title after defeating Argentina with a goal to nil in the final match at "MetLife" Stadium.
Real Madrid was keen to provide support to its new player Marc Cucurella throughout the tournament, and the matter intensified as soon as he won the World Cup yesterday, as they celebrated him on social media as if he had already worn the club's shirt.
Real Madrid announced the signing of Cucurella from Chelsea earlier in the current summer transfer window, specifically on June 15 last, that is, after the start of the World Cup tournament which began on the 11th of the mentioned month.
Real Madrid's action raised questions among some about whether the club would benefit financially from Cucurella, in terms of the profits from his participation in the World Cup according to the famous FIFA program, starting from the group stage and up to the final.

But upon searching FIFA records, we find that Marc Cucurella was included in the Spain national team list for the World Cup while belonging to the English club Chelsea.
The name of the player's club cannot be changed even if he transfers to another team officially during the transfer period, as long as he was following the first team when his name was registered in the national team list finally for the tournament.
Therefore, Real Madrid will not benefit financially from Marc Cucurella, while Chelsea will reap the profits of the player's participation in the tournament according to the followed FIFA program (285 thousand dollars in the case of Cucurella who was with his national team throughout the tournament).
