The famous "Archivo VAR" network prepared an evaluation of the performance of the referee in the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup between the Argentine and Spanish national teams on Sunday evening.
MetLife Stadium hosted the World Cup final match between Argentina and Spain, where the latter won with a goal without reply.
The "Archivo VAR" network, specialized in refereeing matters, said about referee Slavko Vinčić who led the final: "He succeeded in creating a good situation for Spain against Argentina, as his performance improved noticeably as the match progressed after some controversial decisions".

She added: "After a first half in which the Slovenian referee appeared hesitant to show some cards toward a number of Argentine players, he decided in the second that he needed to use them to prevent the match from getting out of control".
She continued: "Accordingly, Enzo Fernández received two yellow cards and was sent off the field, the first for protesting and the second for his reckless violent intervention against Pau Cubarsí; the two decisions are correct".
She added: "After that, the referee canceled a goal for Spain scored by Nico Williams due to Merino's intervention on Otamendi, and he was right in that as well".
She concluded: "It can be said that his correct decisions in the most important moments of the match saved him from failing and earned him a passing grade thanks to them", and gave him an evaluation of 6 out of 10.
