Journalistic reports revealed details of the altercation that occurred between the players of the Argentine and Spanish national teams at the end of their match on Sunday evening in the final of the FIFA World Cup tournament.

"MetLife" Stadium hosted the match between the Argentine and Spanish national teams in the final of the 2026 World Cup edition, where the latter achieved a 1-0 victory.

After the final whistle, everyone was surprised by a strong altercation between the players of the two teams on the pitch without understanding the reason.

The Argentine network "infobae" reported that during the celebration of the Spanish players for winning the World Cup title, Leandro Paredes was seen grabbing Eric Garcia by the neck.

It explained that at that moment, the technical director of the Argentine national team, Lionel Scaloni, intervened to calm the situation, along with Walter Samuel and other members of the technical staff, as they succeeded in separating the players.

It reported that Thiago Almada, the Argentine player, tried to prevent his teammate Paredes from grabbing Gavi, as he intervened with him violently and threw him to the ground.

Later, things calmed down after several minutes before the players of the two teams shook hands in a farewell different from what happened moments before of severe tension.

It pointed out that Paredes suffered provocation from the Spanish players during the match, which prompted him to respond to them as soon as the final whistle was blown, and Nicolas Otamendi also refused to shake hands with Rodri.
