Gianni Infantino faced harsh criticism during the World Cup tournament, due to some controversial decisions, topped by the cancellation of the expulsion of Folarin Balogun, the American player.
The "Fair Square" organization clarified today, Wednesday, that Gianni Infantino is about to be referred to the Olympic Ethics investigators; due to a potential violation of political neutrality, after he helped US President Donald Trump prevent the ban of one of the World Cup players.
Trump had said that he contacted Infantino to lift the expulsion from Balogun before the Belgium match, because the expulsion was incorrect.
The International Olympic Committee refers to neutrality as one of the "fundamental principles of the Olympic movement" for sports bodies such as FIFA, and it has judicial authority over Infantino since he joined its exclusive group that includes more than 100 invited members in 2020.
The "Fair Square" organization, a non-governmental organization based in London concerned with sports and human rights, said in a statement today, Wednesday: "Fair Square organization will submit a complaint to the International Olympic Committee regarding the repeated violation by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, of the rules of political neutrality".
